Microsoft Teams app heading to Microsoft Store in May 2022

The day is almost upon us when the Microsoft Store will have Microsoft Teams stocked on its digital shelves. As noted on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, it may only be a few weeks before Teams officially hits the mainstream.

According to the roadmap, where all the good updates for Microsoft products and services are, the general availability for the introduction of Teams in the MS Store is scheduled for May 2022. Note that the dates in the roadmap are estimates not guarantees, so until you see the app. firsthand on the showcase, nothing is set in stone.

Here’s Microsoft’s description for the change: “The Microsoft Teams app for work, school and life will soon be available for download from the Microsoft store. This app will support work, school and personal accounts on Windows 10 and work or school accounts on Windows 11.”

Windows 10 supports all three facets of Teams through this app, and Windows 11 supports two, as personal Teams integration is already an integral part of the new OS experience.

With Teams, the Microsoft Store will become even stronger. It has already assimilated other storefronts and major browsers, so the logical conclusion was that Microsoft would also bring its own communications platform under the umbrella.
