New version of dtSearch with support for Windows 11, Windows Server 2022 and .NET 6; Apple Silicon M1/ARM developer version; Preview Windows/Linux 64-bit multithreaded
BETHESDA, MD., January 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — dtSearch announces a new version, 2101.02, of its product line to instantly search terabytes of data online and offline, spanning multiple folders, emails with attachments and nested attachments, online data and other databases. The product line covers enterprise and development applications. Developer SDKs also make dtSearch’s proprietary document filters available. Development apps can run “on premise” or in a cloud environment like Azure or AWS. The new version includes:
- Windows 11, Windows Server 2022 and .NET 6 added as supported platforms/environments
- Apple Silicon M1 / ARM developer built for dtSearch engine for macOS
- Multi-threaded 64-bit indexer preview feature for much faster indexing on multi-core Windows and Linux systems
- Search dialog improvements for handling large number of indexes
- Support for new 64-bit versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader for viewing end-user PDFs with highlighted results
- Added Korean Hancom Office HWPX to dtSearch document filters
With the new updates, the key features of the dtSearch product line are:
Terabyte Indexer. dtSearch enterprise and developer products can index a terabyte of text spanning multiple folders, emails with embedded attachments, online data, and other databases in a single index. Products can create and search an unlimited number of indexes. Index updates do not prevent concurrent search. The multi-threaded 64-bit indexer speed boost applies to both new index builds and index updates. (The multithreaded indexer does not involve any change in the index format).
Simultaneous and multi-threaded search. Indexed search spanning full-text and metadata is typically instantaneous, even in a concurrent search environment encompassing terabytes of mixed online and offline data. For online use, dtSearch products do not limit the number of concurrent search threads. The new multithreaded indexer does not affect concurrent search.
Document filters and supported data types. dtSearch’s proprietary document filters support Microsoft Office files, OpenOffice files, PDFs, compression formats, emails as well as embedded attachments, web-ready data, and more. For supported data types, document filters also support browser display with highlighted results. The release adds support for newer 64-bit versions of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader for end-user PDF viewing with highlighted results. The release also extends support for Hancom (a popular Korean Office application) to cover the HWPX document format.
Over 25 search options. The dtSearch product line offers over 25 full-text and highlighted metadata search options, with built-in relevance ranking across multiple data repositories. Forensic-oriented options include identifying credit card numbers in data and generating and searching for hash values. For international languages, dtSearch products support Unicode, with support for right-to-left languages and special Chinese/Japanese/Korean character options (covering text in HWPX format as well as other other supported formats).
Faceted search and other data classifications. dtSearch Engine SDKs provide advanced data classification options such as faceted search and granular data classification based on full-text document content, internal document metadata, database content or data attributes associated with documents when indexing documents.
SDKs. The SDKs provide developers with all of the general search functionality of dtSearch as well as developer-focused features such as faceted search and granular data classification, as well as API access to dtSearch’s document filters. The release candidate extends cross-platform SDK support to .NET 6, as well as C++ and Java. Platforms covered include Windows, Linux and macOS with new support from Apple Silicon (M1, Arm). The dtSearch Engine works in applications running locally or in a cloud environment like Azure or AWS.
